About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Sustainability regulatory expert to join our growing Environmental and Sustainability Regulatory Legal team. This high-profile role sits at the intersection of regulation and corporate strategy, offering the opportunity to advise leading businesses on the practical impact of evolving environmental and sustainability regulation across the UK, EU, and globally. You will play a central role in helping clients navigate an increasingly complex web of obligations, from mandatory reporting frameworks to product-level regulation and supply chain due diligence requirements. The team’s blend of legal and consulting work provides a unique opportunity to develop creative new offerings and see advice through to implementation for clients. You will also be instrumental in developing the business by anticipating market needs as new laws emerge and building and maintaining stakeholder relationships. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent communication skills, and comfort operating amid the uncertainty created by brand new laws.
What your days will look like
Advise clients on a wide range of environmental and sustainability matters, including regulatory interpretation, compliance programme design, and horizon scanning for upcoming legislative changes. Own and manage client relationships and workstreams, overseeing projects from initiation through to delivery while mentoring and supervising junior team members. Contribute to business development and thought leadership by proactively driving initiatives and leading the preparation of client briefings, training sessions, and regulatory publications. Collaborate with colleagues and sustainability specialists across practice areas and jurisdictions to deliver integrated, multi-disciplinary advice in complex regulatory environments.

Experience
- Legal qualification (UK or EU) preferred, though equivalent experience in environmental consultancy, regulatory affairs, or in-house sustainability roles will also be considered
- Advising on mandatory and voluntary sustainability reporting regimes, supply-chain transparency, human rights, and environmental due diligence requirements
- Strong knowledge of packaging regulation and taxation, and product-level environmental regulation
- Familiarity with emissions trading, carbon border mechanisms, greenwashing risk, environmental claims, and formulation and substantiation of sustainability targets
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory developments
- Confidence presenting and engaging with senior, client-facing audiences
