About the Role
Are you committed to improving private rented housing standards? We are seeking a dedicated Service Manager to lead our Residential Environmental Health Team. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering services that provide safe, healthy homes for residents. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the community by ensuring housing standards are upheld and vulnerable residents are supported.

Islington Council is committed to challenging inequality and creating a more equal borough where everyone has the chance to thrive. We live by our CARE values: collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering, which guide everything we do.

Working for the Team, Service and Organisation

We offer a supportive and inclusive working environment where equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of our workforce strategy.

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to unlawful discrimination and work continuously to improve our practices in partnership with colleagues and trade unions.

Safeguarding is a key priority; we expect all staff to share our commitment to promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. This post is subject to a basic DBS check, qualifications check, and 3 to 5 years referencing.

- Up to 31 days leave per year, increasing to 36 days after five years of local government service
- Flexible working arrangements and a 35-hour working week to support work-life balance
- Learning and development opportunities to maximise your potential
- Competitive pay with a commitment to paying at least the London Living Wage
- Excellent local government pension scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme and discounted gym memberships
- Local discounts from restaurants, shops, health and beauty therapists, and more

Please note priority will be given to those at risk of redundancy within Islington Council. Current employees in the redeployment pool must meet essential criteria to be prioritised.
