About the Role
The SHES Advisor will provide professional Safety, Health, Environmental, and Sustainability support across M O’Brien Plant Hire operations. Reporting to senior management, you will work closely with operational teams across depots, workshops, transport, and site-based activities to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement in SHES performance. Key responsibilities include conducting regular site, depot, workshop, and yard inspections; carrying out audits and monitoring activities; supporting accident and incident investigations; producing reports, risk assessments, and safety documentation; delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings; promoting a positive safety culture; supporting environmental management and sustainability initiatives; maintaining accurate SHES records; liaising with customers, contractors, and regulatory authorities; providing practical advice and coaching; assisting with external audits and accreditations; and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Experience
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety, SHES, or HSEQ role within construction, plant hire, transport, rail, or civil engineering.
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of plant hire, transport, workshop, or heavy construction operations is desirable.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desirable).
