About the Role
As the Environmental Impacts Project Manager, you will lead the planning, delivery and commissioning of sustainability and environmental initiatives across the Leonardo Helicopters UK portfolio. This role involves not only project ownership but also identifying opportunities, influencing positive change and turning sustainability ambitions into meaningful environmental improvements. You will provide day-to-day leadership and coordination across environmental and sustainability initiatives, driving performance against key metrics, managing risks and dependencies, and supporting successful implementation.
A key responsibility is ensuring Site Facilities environmental and sustainability activities comply fully with UK legislation, LDO UK and LH UK policies, standards and procedures. You will challenge existing ways of working and collaborate with stakeholders to develop practical solutions that reduce environmental impact and support wider sustainability ambitions.
This role requires a proactive, collaborative and purpose-driven approach, working across organisational boundaries and engaging stakeholders at all levels. You will act as a passionate advocate for sustainability, using your knowledge and influence to inspire action.
Key responsibilities include providing professional and technical advice for infrastructure projects aligned with the 5-year business planning cycle, ensuring HSE compliance, collaborating with specialists and government officials, managing audits including ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO50001, leading utilities management and reduction initiatives, managing social value outputs from contracts, overseeing EV provision and solar initiatives, and supporting emergency preparedness and business continuity processes.
This position is a JFF level 6 role, based primarily at the Yeovil site with hybrid working options.
Experience
Qualified professional and/or in-depth experience in a relevant environmental, sustainability or facilities discipline. Working knowledge of sustainability and environmental best practice, legislation, risk management, policies, procedures and market trends. Experience and knowledge of LHUK manufacturing processes is desirable. Understanding of real estate, infrastructure and Facilities Management processes, including CDM. Financial competence including budgetary control.

Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities. Self-motivated, purpose-driven and proactive, with the ability to deliver positive environmental and business change. Clear understanding of business and functional strategy and how the role contributes to business objectives. Willingness to attain Practitioner Membership Standard of the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals by the end of Year 2 in role, and Full membership by the end of Year 5. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent experience in environmental, sustainability or facilities disciplines. Security clearance is required, subject to UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and potentially National Security Vetting (NSV) including Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
