About the Role
Join Kier Group as a Sustainability Summer Placement within our Construction team working on the University of Warwick STEM contract. This placement offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental management on a live construction project. You will be involved in a variety of environmental topics including ecology, monitoring and data analysis, audits and compliance, innovation and carbon reduction, water and waste management, and sustainable design. The role provides exposure to project management, design, client relations, and the implementation of new processes and technologies. You will support the project environment team and wider business environmental function, conduct research and analysis, prepare reports and presentations, and actively participate in team meetings and decision-making processes. This placement is designed to equip you with the skills and experience needed for progression in your sustainability career, while benefiting from Kier’s wellbeing support and generous annual leave entitlement.
Experience
Previous experience is not essential; this placement is designed to provide practical learning and development opportunities within sustainability and environmental management.
About you
- Currently undertaking a degree with an Environmental or Sustainability focus or a related field.
- Eligible to complete a placement year between 2026 and 2027, returning to university with a graduation year of 2028.
- Strong interest in environmental management, sustainability strategies, and carbon footprint reduction.
- Eagerness to learn, challenge existing processes, and identify effective solutions.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proficient in data/statistical analysis, reporting, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program with the option or requirement to undertake a placement year.
