About the Role
Join Barclays as an Assistant Vice President, Sustainability Communications Manager, to effectively communicate the Group's sustainability and climate strategy to relevant external stakeholders. This permanent role supports the development and execution of the communications strategy and the writing and coordination of sustainability thought leadership. Working closely with the Head of Sustainability Communications and collaborating with Employee Communications, Digital, Strategic Policy, and Media Relations teams, you will promote, protect, and defend the Bank’s reputation while managing communications activities across a range of sustainability topics.
You will be responsible for delivering and executing the bank's external communications strategy to ensure messages are effectively communicated across multiple channels, both owned and earned. This includes developing aligned campaigning, tactical content, and news flow that clearly communicates Barclays’ values, goals, and objectives to the public. You will maintain external stakeholder relationships such as media outlets and industry groups to ensure press releases, owned channels, and media statements accurately reflect the bank's strategy, values, and reputation.
In this role, you will also manage reputational risk by advising on risk mitigation and handling negative news flow or crisis issues. As an AVP, you will influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Leadership behaviours expected include listening authentically, energising and inspiring others, aligning across the enterprise, and developing colleagues.
The role requires engaging in complex data analysis from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively and communicate complex or sensitive information effectively. You will influence and convince stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes while demonstrating Barclays’ core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship, alongside the Barclays Mindset to Empower, Challenge, and Drive.
