About the Role
Join Barclays as an Assistant Vice President, Sustainability Communications Manager, to effectively communicate the Group's sustainability and climate strategy to relevant external stakeholders. This permanent role supports the development and execution of the external communications strategy and contributes to writing and coordinating sustainability thought leadership. Working closely with the Head of Sustainability Communications and collaborating with Employee Communications, Digital, Strategic Policy, and Media Relations teams, you will promote, protect, and defend the Bank’s reputation while managing communications activity across a range of sustainability topics.

You will be responsible for delivering and executing the bank's external communications strategy to ensure messages are effectively communicated across multiple channels, both owned and earned. This includes developing aligned campaigning, tactical content, and news flow that clearly conveys Barclays’ values, goals, and objectives to the public. You will maintain strong external stakeholder relationships, including media outlets and industry groups, ensuring press releases, media statements, and owned channels accurately reflect the bank’s strategy and reputation.

Reputational risk minimisation and management is a key part of this role, providing effective advice on risk mitigation and managing negative news flow or crisis issues. As an AVP, you will advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions, lead complex tasks, and coach team members to deliver impactful work that supports the entire business function.

Barclays expects all colleagues to demonstrate its core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship, alongside the Barclays Mindset to Empower, Challenge, and Drive. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic matrix environment, requiring resilience, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to influence and convince stakeholders and deliver outstanding outcomes.
