About the Role
Join Barclays as an Assistant Vice President, Sustainability Communications Manager, to help communicate the Group's sustainability and climate strategy effectively to relevant external stakeholders. This permanent role supports the development and execution of the communications strategy and assists in writing and coordinating sustainability thought leadership. Working closely with the Head of Sustainability Communications and collaborating with Employee Communications, Digital, Strategic Policy, and Media Relations teams, you will promote, protect, and defend the Bank’s reputation while managing communications activity across a range of sustainability topics.

You will be responsible for delivering and executing the bank's external communications strategy to ensure messages are effectively communicated across multiple channels, both owned and earned. This includes developing aligned campaigning, tactical content, and news flow that clearly conveys the bank’s values, goals, and objectives to the public. Maintaining strong external stakeholder relationships such as media outlets and industry groups is key to ensuring press releases, owned channels, and media statements accurately reflect the bank’s strategy, values, and reputation.

Reputational risk minimisation and management is a critical part of the role, providing effective advice on risk mitigation and managing negative news flow or crisis issues. As an AVP, you will advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions, lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, coach employees, and appraise performance.

The role requires engaging in complex analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively and effectively, communicating complex or sensitive information, and influencing stakeholders to achieve outcomes. You will be expected to demonstrate Barclays’ Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship, as well as the Barclays Mindset to Empower, Challenge, and Drive.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic matrix environment, supporting the bank’s sustainability agenda through strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
