About the Role
Join the University of Edinburgh as a Sustainability Intern and contribute to redefining what’s possible in sustainability within an academic environment. This fixed-term internship runs for 26 weeks during the 2026/27 academic year, offering a unique opportunity to support the School of Engineering’s sustainability initiatives. Following the School’s achievement of a Silver Award for Sustainability in wet laboratories, the intern will focus on the "Sustainability Beyond Wet Labs" accreditation project. This role involves collaborating across disciplines to enhance sustainability in practical learning, teaching, and research spaces. You will develop technical reporting, communication, and teamwork skills while making a lasting impact on the University’s sustainability practices. The internship is part of the Employ.ed on Campus programme, designed exclusively for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students of the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. This role offers professional development, exposure to cutting-edge sustainability projects, and the chance to be part of a vibrant, diverse academic community.
Experience
No prior experience is required. Enthusiasm for sustainability and a willingness to learn are essential.
About you
You are motivated, proactive, and passionate about sustainability and environmental issues. You enjoy working collaboratively and are eager to develop your technical and communication skills in a professional setting. You must be a current undergraduate student at the University of Edinburgh (2nd year to penultimate year) based in the UK and not have previously participated in the Employ.ed on Campus programme.
