Glennon Brothers supplies a wide range of timber products to the Irish and UK markets, serving construction, pallet wood and fencing industries. The Group also manufactures timber frame homes and engineered roof trusses for the housebuilding sector and operates combined heat and power (CHP) and wood pellet manufacturing facilities.
Reporting to the relevant Shift Supervisor or Team Lead, the General Operative supports the safe, efficient and well-organised day-to-day operation of the timber frame production line. The role involves working as part of a production team, carrying out assigned operational tasks, maintaining safety and quality standards, and contributing to productivity, housekeeping and continuous improvement across the site.
Key responsibilities include carrying out production tasks safely and efficiently, following health and safety policies, using tools and machinery correctly, supporting product handling activities such as building pre-cut timber into panels, gables and trusses, maintaining good housekeeping, assisting with quality checks, working cooperatively with colleagues to achieve targets, and participating in training and continuous improvement activities.
Experience
Experience in timber frame, manufacturing, production or similar operational environment is desirable but not essential. Experience working effectively as part of a team in a practical, operational setting is important. Experience with woodworking equipment such as nail guns is advantageous.
About you
A hands-on, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work is essential. You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced environment and motivated to contribute to team success. Flexibility to support different areas of the sawmill operation as required is important. Good health and safety awareness or willingness to learn is required.
Qualifications
Relevant training, licences or certifications are advantageous but not required as full training will be provided. Formal qualifications are not essential where the right attitude, aptitude and willingness to learn are demonstrated.
