About the Role
Increase connection, well-being and fulfilment by supporting an older person to feel more confident going out into the gardens to enjoy their hobby, spend time outdoors and benefit from their surroundings. Enhance the environment for residents to enjoy. You will support residents and the gardening team to maintain the gardens and outdoor areas of the site. Tasks include gardening alongside residents, offering encouragement and support, potting, planting, sowing, digging and weeding with guidance from the gardening team. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, such as travel from your home to your volunteering location, will be reimbursed. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check carried out by St Monica Trust. Volunteers will not be expected to undertake any personal care tasks, have any involvement in medication, or conduct manual handling tasks without prior training and authorisation. Experience
Basic gardening skills preferred but not essential as support and guidance will be provided.
About you
A warm, friendly personality who enjoys interacting with people from all backgrounds and abilities. Good communication and listening skills are important. Enthusiasm for working outdoors and supporting others to enjoy gardening is essential.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this role. An enhanced DBS check will be completed by St Monica Trust as part of the recruitment process.
