
Location
Richmond Park & Bushy Park, London, with occasional work across other Royal Parks in London.
Hours
36 hours per week including a minimum of 1 weekend per month.
Salary
£34,743 - £37,500 per annum, depending on experience.
About the Role
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity managing over 5,000 acres of parkland, rare habitats, historic buildings, and monuments across eight Royal Parks and other public spaces in London. We are seeking a Volunteer Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract to lead and support conservation volunteers in some of the most stunning green spaces in London. This role involves managing volunteers to carry out habitat management tasks during regular conservation group sessions and developing flexible one-off volunteering opportunities. The successful candidate will primarily work in Richmond and Bushy Park but will support activities across all parks as needed. The role requires significant time outdoors, working hands-on with volunteers in physical conservation work. You will also line manage the Volunteer Assistant, supporting their development and training. You will champion volunteering best practice, inclusivity, and diversity, develop volunteer resources, and ensure appropriate support and training for volunteers, partners, and staff managing volunteers. Additional responsibilities include planning, delivering, and evaluating volunteer projects with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager, writing volunteer role descriptions, work plans, policies, and risk assessments, maintaining accurate volunteer data, and adhering to safeguarding guidelines for children and adults at risk.
Experience
Proven experience working with, managing, and training volunteers, especially conservation volunteers. Strong knowledge of safe use and maintenance of hand tools. Practical skills in conservation, park, horticulture, or nature reserve management.

Qualifications
A valid and current clean UK driving licence is essential. A First Aid Certificate is desirable.
