Location
Vigo Village, Bexley, based at Trosley Country Park, split between working with the West Kent Ranger Team and the Medway Valley Countryside Partnership.

Hours
Minimum 3 days per week with flexibility. Fixed Term contract until 31st March 2027.

Salary
This is a voluntary position; however, a travel and training budget is provided to support skill development and expenses.

About the Role
As a Volunteer Trainee Ranger, you will assist with the planning and delivery of practical management techniques across a range of habitats including chalk grassland, coppice, and ancient woodland. Your duties will include supporting environmental education events and health and wellbeing programmes alongside Countryside Management Partnerships. Practical management tasks involve coppicing, tree planting, wood processing, fencing, livestock management, and access works. This role offers valuable hands-on experience and training within the conservation industry.

Requirements

Experience
Knowledge and experience in countryside management is desirable, or a strong desire to forge a career in the conservation industry.

About you
You should be reliable, possess good interpersonal skills, and have a positive attitude towards customer care. Your health should be appropriate to the physical demands of the role. This position is customer-facing and requires a command of spoken English or Welsh sufficient for effective job performance.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required; enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to learn are essential.
