Office hours Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Ideally, the candidate may start working a few hours during the 2024 Spring Semester to be mentored by the existing Waste Coordinator.

About the Role
This position supports Messiah University’s efforts to divert landfill waste through on-site composting and increased recycling initiatives. The Waste Coordinator will play a key role in managing waste on campus, including overseeing the campus compost program, collecting and analyzing waste data, coordinating move-out waste management, and assisting with the Food Recovery Network. The role occasionally requires picking up and transporting food scraps for composting. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to sustainability efforts while gaining valuable experience in waste management and environmental stewardship.
Experience
No specific prior experience is required; however, an interest in sustainability and waste management is highly valued.
About you
Motivated and responsible individual with a commitment to environmental sustainability. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable with occasional physical tasks such as transporting food scraps. Reliable with the ability to maintain consistent office hours.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this position. A willingness to learn and contribute positively to the campus sustainability initiatives is essential.
