About the Role
The Woodland Trust is seeking a Woodland Adviser for the Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape (D2D) programme. This role involves working collaboratively to create landscape-scale change by protecting, restoring, and creating a mosaic of diverse habitats centred on trees and woods. The D2D team, established five years ago, works with landowners and partners to deliver a range of tree and woodland conservation actions including agroforestry, ancient tree protection, and woodland management. A company vehicle will be provided for this role, subject to eligibility criteria which may change as part of ongoing policy reviews.
Key responsibilities include supporting the delivery of the D2D programme ensuring projects are well-managed, effective, and on budget; inspiring and enabling landowners and partners to adopt impactful woodland and tree conservation practices; providing specialist agroforestry advice alongside wider woodland management and restoration support; acting as a catalyst for partnership activity by developing new project ideas and helping secure funding; leading or supporting project development in collaboration with Coed Cadw teams including fundraisers; organising and running demonstration events and workshops to inform and motivate landowners on best practices; working with communications and engagement teams to raise the profile and importance of trees and woodland; and building strong networks with farming groups, businesses, and public-sector partners to expand reach and impact, including managing tree stock delivery with the Outreach team.
Experience
- Proven experience in project and budget management, delivering work on time and within agreed targets.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with landowners, farmers, communities, partners, contractors, and volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to work in partnership through networking, relationship development, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Experience providing land management advice related to conservation, woodland creation, agroforestry, and woodland management.
- IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office and ideally GIS for mapping, planning, and reporting.
- Knowledge of Welsh farming and rural land-use contexts.
About you
- Highly organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, and adapt under pressure while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident presenting in meetings, face-to-face settings, group environments, and on camera.
- Proficient in the Welsh language to a high level (spoken and written).
- Possess a full driving licence.
