About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing and managing the nation’s forests for everyone. As an Apprentice Craftsperson, you will be part of a 2-year fixed term apprenticeship program focused on sustainable forest management across a 21,000-hectare estate. This role involves working outdoors to manage ecologically important woodlands, balancing public access, wildlife conservation, sustainable timber production, and carbon capture. You will gain comprehensive training and practical experience while contributing to creating amazing places and experiences for visitors, supporting biodiversity, and ensuring the forests thrive for future generations. The apprenticeship includes a Level 3 qualification and is designed to develop your skills from the ground up, regardless of previous forestry or environmental qualifications.
Experience
No prior experience in forestry or environmental disciplines is required. Enthusiasm, motivation, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Passionate about the outdoors and sustainability, eager to develop new skills, and committed to making a positive difference for the environment and local communities. You should be able to communicate effectively in spoken English and demonstrate behaviours such as working collaboratively and developing yourself and others.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 including maths and English, OR a Level 2 Vocational qualification plus GCSE grade C/4 in maths and English. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths are accepted as alternatives to GCSEs. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal record check and government baseline personnel security standard check.
