About the Role
The award-winning Lee Valley Regional Park stretches 26 miles along the River Lee from Ware in Hertfordshire through Essex to the Thames at East India Dock Basin. The park provides a vital natural corridor on London’s doorstep, offering refuge for wildlife and a variety of landscapes including internationally important wetland sites, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, nature reserves, industrial heritage sites, and leisure venues.
In this newly created role, you will work independently and collaboratively across the Authority, supporting teams from open spaces to venues. As an Arboriculture Officer, you will provide technical arboriculture expertise, undertake and oversee tree surveys and inspections, and record all aspects of the tree stock to protect the natural landscape and maintain visitor safety.
You will diagnose and assess injury, decay, and structural defects in trees, support pest and disease management, and develop a comprehensive Tree Management Policy and Strategy for the entire Park. You will contribute to open space management plans and wider consultations.
This role includes teaching and guiding colleagues to empower them to undertake tree-related works effectively. You will liaise with contractors to prioritise risk areas, ensuring works comply with health and safety regulations, specifications, budgets, and deadlines. Supporting others in tree stock management will also be a key responsibility.
As much of the Park is open 24/7, flexibility and strong communication skills are essential to coordinate works and maintain safety standards.
