About the Role
The award-winning Lee Valley Regional Park stretches 26 miles along the River Lee, from Ware in Hertfordshire through Essex to the Thames at East India Dock Basin. The park offers a unique natural corridor on London’s doorstep and serves as a vital refuge for wildlife, featuring internationally important wetland sites, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, industrial heritage sites, nature reserves, and leisure venues.

The Conservation Team plays a key role in protecting and enhancing biodiversity across the Park. They advise on protected species legislation, habitat management, and ecological best practice, working closely with Rangers, Property and Planning teams, and leisure venues to deliver the Authority’s biodiversity duty. The team also collaborates with regional partners to deliver conservation initiatives.

This new role will strengthen the team’s capacity to support officers and external partners, deliver capital and grant-funded conservation projects, manage and analyse ecological data, and expand the public events and engagement programme.

In this role, you will work independently and as part of the Conservation Team, engaging with colleagues across the Authority to help deliver the Lee Valley Biodiversity Action Plan. You will assist in providing guidance on best practice land management and have opportunities to contribute to conservation projects, coordinate wildlife survey volunteers, oversee ecological data systems, and help raise public awareness through events and initiatives.
