About the Role
UHI Inverness, a key partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, is seeking an enthusiastic Assessor/Trainer to join the Land and Science team on a supply basis. This role involves delivering Commercial Training courses, Further Education programmes, and some Higher Education courses focused on practical rural and forestry skills. Based at the Scottish School of Forestry, you will work alongside academic colleagues to provide an innovative and high-quality educational experience. The position requires delivering curriculum with a focus on best teaching practices and contributing as an effective team member. Key responsibilities include teaching and facilitating learning, assessment, guidance and support, planning and preparing learning experiences, maintaining quality and standards, and engaging in professional development.

Experience
Practical industry experience is essential, ideally with competency certification in one or more of the following: chainsaw use, forest machinery, brushcutter, pesticides, emergency first aid, and/or tree climbing. Some experience in instructing or teaching is desirable but not mandatory as training will be provided.

About you
You should be flexible, reflective, innovative, creative, and committed to continuing vocational and professional development. Effective interpersonal skills and good IT proficiency, including MS Office and relevant subject-related software, are required. A positive attitude towards teaching and learning is essential.

Qualifications
No formal teaching qualification is required for this role; training will be provided. However, relevant industry certifications and practical skills are important. The successful candidate must be able to pass a satisfactory PVG Scheme check through Disclosure Scotland prior to employment.
