The Assistant Greenkeeper supports the presentation, conditioning, and maintenance of the championship golf course, playing a vital role in delivering immaculate playing surfaces, exceptional course aesthetics, and a consistently world-class golfing experience. This role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence to ensure the course reflects the prestige and standards of the Fairmont brand.

Key responsibilities include maintaining turf health through mowing, aerating, fertilising, and pest control; setting up and maintaining course elements such as bunkers, hazards, and tee markers; operating and maintaining greenkeeping equipment safely and efficiently; ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations; communicating effectively with team members, management, and golf course users; applying golf rules and etiquette in course maintenance; supporting renovation projects and ornamental area maintenance; monitoring and reporting on course conditions and operational issues; attending training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge; and upholding The Mere's values and high standards of professionalism.

Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in greenkeeping, sports turf, or grounds maintenance. Experience operating turf machinery including mowers, tractors, and implements.

About you
Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A passion for golf course presentation and delivering exceptional playing conditions. Understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations, including safe machinery use and COSHH.

Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or working towards) preferred. PA1, PA2, PA6 spraying certificates desirable.
