About the Role
As an Assistant (Apprentice) Outdoor Instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to young people across Westminster. Based on a 56-acre site in the beautiful Surrey Hills, you will work towards an Outdoor Activity Instructor Level 3 apprenticeship while being trained to run outdoor activity sessions for visiting groups. Many of the young people you support, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), may be experiencing the countryside for the first time. You will help them explore the outdoors, build friendships, and develop new perspectives on life through activities such as climbing, raft building, historical studies, and archery. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, you will develop your skills and gain valuable experience. Additional responsibilities include assisting with conservation and grounds management tasks, conducting risk assessments to ensure safety on-site, and participating in training events, workshops, and tutorials.

Experience
Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential. A passion for education and the outdoors is key.

About you
You will be comfortable working actively in all weather conditions and confident working at heights and in confined spaces, as some activities take place in an artificial cave system and on a climbing tower. You must be a confident swimmer as STA pool responder training will be provided. You should be a motivated, enthusiastic team player with a positive approach to your work. Qualifications
Qualifications in Environmental Science, Geography, or Biology are advantageous but not required. The apprenticeship will provide the necessary training and qualifications.
