We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate / Associate Director to join our Environmental Consents nationwide team. This role is strategically significant and offers a challenging and exciting opportunity to identify, win and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs to a range of energy projects for a wide client base. Our current portfolio includes some of the UK’s most important and transformational infrastructure projects supporting the UK’s Net Zero commitments.
As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP is involved in projects ranging from small developments across every sector to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team manages environmental inputs throughout project lifecycles.
In this role, you will work with technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to direct and lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments. You will play a key role in improving environmental performance across diverse projects and sectors.
You will have responsibility for directing and leading projects including recruitment, bidding, project team management, delivery, and financial management. You will contribute to expanding our water sector offer, working alongside sector leads and client account managers to provide thought leadership and win new business.
Key responsibilities include providing environmental advice and support to clients and colleagues, promoting sustainable design and environmental enhancement, leading large and complex projects, building client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and contributing to innovative techniques such as Digital EIA and Future Ready EIA.
You will also drive performance improvement and career advancement within the team, promote an inclusive workplace, demonstrate strong health and safety values, and contribute to the success of WSP’s business strategy.
Experience
- Proven experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes
- Familiarity with consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI Assents
- Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues
- Proven line management experience
- Track record of developing and upskilling internal teams
- Evidence of successfully driving business growth
