About the Role

As part of a small, dynamic team, you will provide expertise and deliver solutions on a wide range of complex surface water issues using blue-green infrastructure and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). Your role will involve advising clients and supporting engineers within the team, promoting blue-green infrastructure and SuDS across the wider business, and applying your technical skills to projects of local and national significance.
You can expect to:
- Provide technical input on urban drainage projects, predominantly SuDS and blue-green infrastructure
- Work on bespoke and challenging projects
- Produce high-quality technical outputs
- Support the development of engineering solutions from feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction
- Assist in the preparation of reports, drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Contribute to team learning through knowledge sharing
- Represent WSP at industry forums and conferences
Your Team
As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the Blue Green Infrastructure team, which comprises engineers with diverse industry experience. The team delivers projects across WSP’s broad client base, including public realm improvements, SuDS retrofits, and high-profile infrastructure projects such as HS2 and Smart Motorways. You will support efforts to help local authorities prevent flooding and assist in developing fee proposals and winning new work.
Experience
- Some knowledge of urban drainage design and ability to review technical outputs
- Experience or understanding of hydraulic modelling using industry-standard software such as InfoWorks or FLOW
- Competence with AutoCAD
- Familiarity with geographical information systems like ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo
- High degree of computer literacy and ability to work collaboratively within a team

Qualifications
