About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. As Associate Director - Commercial Consultancy, you will take responsibility for end-to-end service delivery, often managing large and complex commissions within the infrastructure sector. You will ensure client objectives are met through delivering a value-added cost management service.
Our client is undertaking a complex, multi-billion-pound, 10 to 15 year programme to redevelop their science campus near Weybridge in Surrey. This involves transforming their campus and operations while maintaining world-class science and research capabilities, specialist expertise, and a strong focus on collaboration and health and safety.
You will be a delivery partner on this programme, working collaboratively with the client and other partners to provide technical, cost assurance, and technical assurance services. Your delivery accountabilities will span the full lifecycle of projects within the overall programme, which includes sub-programmes for enabling works, infrastructure (temporary and permanent), and new science capability in a live environment on a nationally important site, maintaining logistics and operations at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying strong health and safety expertise across project portfolios
- Fostering an inclusive environment that supports team wellbeing
- Directing estimating, cost planning, and presentation of cost plans specific to infrastructure works
- Managing effective, compliant procurement processes
- Delivering cost management services that drive strategic outcomes
- Ensuring ethical, commercially sound operations supporting net-zero goals
- Mentoring and developing teams, driving innovation and continuous improvement
Experience
- Strong infrastructure experience, particularly related to campus sites
- Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences projects is an advantage
- NEC4 Option A & C experience
- Leadership and management of large, diverse teams
- Managing relationships with senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of carbon and sustainability considerations impacting projects
About you
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law, and contractual frameworks related to construction

Qualifications
- Degree in quantity surveying, cost management, or equivalent
- Professional membership such as MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) and progressing towards fellowship or equivalent professional/personal development
