About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the UK’s most exciting and largest megaprojects, at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

As Senior Environment and Sustainability Manager, you will undertake site inspections of contractors’ work areas, relaying observations and reporting environmental issues where necessary. You will provide written and verbal advice on environmental legislation, permits, and planning constraints for all site activities. Your role includes reviewing contractors’ environmental management plans and risk assessments to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and SZC standards.

You will support self-assessments and internal audits of site activities to ensure compliance with legislation, SZC processes, procedures, and environmental best practice. Leading investigations of environmental incidents, you will provide reports and recommend actions to prevent recurrence. You will also recognise contractual issues and escalate them appropriately to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in a risk-proportional manner.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in an Environmental Management role on dynamic construction or industrial projects (site based). Detailed knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to construction or industrial installations, including supporting guidance, reference notes, and industry best practice. Awareness of client/contractor relationships and legal responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Experience operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards such as BS EN ISO14001:2004.

Qualifications
Degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental or related discipline.
