About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. This Associate Director role supports the cost and commercial cost management office (CMO)/programme management office (PMO) lead across commercial governance, cost reporting, benchmarking, capital planning, budgeting, forecasting and strategic procurement, ensuring consistent cost management across a complex programme of work for a prestigious global Corporate Real Estate client.

This exciting opportunity within the Private Sector Corporate Real Estate team involves supporting the Cost and Commercial lead across a full range of deliverables including commercial reviews, benchmarking, capital planning, project budgeting, forecasting and strategic procurement services. We seek enthusiastic individuals passionate about cost management who aim to deliver the highest standards for clients.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing cost control, reporting and consistency across multiple projects within the programme
- Delivering cost control and reporting services for stakeholder presentations
- Tracking and controlling project accruals and commitments against budgets
- Building project forecasts and benchmarks to measure portfolio and programme performance
- Providing governance, risk and commercial assurance including oversight of cost planning, benchmarking, cashflow, procurement, contracts and claims
- Tracking project contingency, exposure, change control and ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, industry standards and RICS guidelines
- Developing and improving project cost and commercial databases to drive data integrity and best practice
- Tracking trends and issues through dashboards and reports using Power BI or equivalent tools
- Managing and influencing senior stakeholders, implementing continuous improvement plans and sharing expertise to upskill capability
- Demonstrating leadership through team management, performance management, career development and coaching
- Driving transformational change and improvements in systems and processes
- Collaborating towards net zero carbon transition and proactively managing associated carbon emissions and reductions during delivery

Requirements

Experience
- Degree in quantity surveying, cost management or equivalent
- Professional membership such as MRICS/FRICS or equivalent
- Detailed knowledge of forms of contract and contract law
- Proficient knowledge and expertise in the relevant sector or market
- Experience in capex versus opex cost analysis and advice
- Comprehensive understanding of sustainability, social value and carbon reduction issues
- Expert knowledge of industry best practice
- Proven experience in cost planning, budgeting, estimating and managing large cost data sets
- Experience working within a CMO/PMO office is desirable
- Strong negotiating, influencing and communication skills
- Excellent data management skills including Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas and pivot tables desirable)
- Analytical and digital competence
