About the Role
At WSP, you can shape a career as unique as you. Join our Ground and Water Team in the UK and work alongside industry-leading Hydrogeologists who develop and maintain the UK industry standard software ConSim and LandSim. This role offers direct mentoring and career development within a supportive and diverse environment.
As an Associate Hydrogeologist, you will lead projects and teams, providing high-level environmental consultancy services to both external and internal clients. You will have technical oversight and guidance responsibilities, contribute to evaluating opportunities, develop project proposals, and maintain strong business relationships to deliver commercial targets.
Your role will include managing hydrogeological data, developing conceptual models, and using software such as ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, and Seep/W. You will be involved in hydrogeological risk assessment, dewatering, groundwater resource management, pumping and yield tests, modelling, borehole prognosis, abstraction, and geothermal projects.
You will lead complex projects with strong commercial awareness, ensuring timely completion of finance systems and invoicing. You will promote health, safety, and wellbeing culture and demonstrate WSP’s values through your work. Accurate preparation of complex reports and effective delegation of project tasks with review and feedback will be key responsibilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your professional horizons, work on landmark projects, and make a meaningful impact on communities and the environment.
Experience
Proven hydrogeological skills in managing data and preparing evidence-backed conceptual models, gained in consultancy or relevant industrial or regulatory roles. Experience contributing to the preparation of factual and interpretive reports is essential. Competency in risk assessment modelling using ConSim, RTM, and LandSim is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and proposals simultaneously with strong commercial awareness and accountability.
About you
A motivated and engaging team player who contributes collaboratively to the technical and social strength of the Hydrogeology team. You take pride in your work and encourage best practice, delivering work efficiently while driving commercial excellence. You maintain trust with peers and junior staff, fostering an environment where questions are welcomed and problems are openly addressed.
You engage curiosity and encourage others to find solutions, minimizing upward delegation and driving process improvements. You take ownership of your training path, including achieving further professional qualifications and proactively seeking self-development and exposure to new areas. You understand your technical limits and seek help as necessary.
Qualifications
A postgraduate qualification (MTech, MSc, or PhD) in Hydrogeology or a related discipline is required. You will have achieved Chartered status or equivalent with a relevant professional body or be working towards it.
Knowledge of different forms of contract, project governance, and contract management is desirable as you develop your awareness in these areas.
