The WSP Pavement Engineering team is seeking an Associate Pavement Engineer to join this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale projects. Due to recent successes, the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting challenges. The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering pavement design and maintenance projects for clients both in the UK and overseas. This role involves technical delivery and project management of pavement schemes from inception through to handover to the client. Primarily client-facing, the candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of delivering schemes in local or national transport sectors. You will assist the engineering team in developing and delivering projects through various design stages, from feasibility and option studies to detailed design and construction.

Key responsibilities include delivering pavement projects such as investigation reports, design projects and site supervision; applying proven technical knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of pavement-related projects across aviation, highways, and ports/harbours infrastructure; ensuring delivery aligns with company management systems including Health and Safety, project and risk management; leading a team of engineers by providing technical support, advice and training; supporting managers with technical performance information for appraisals; developing and enhancing client relationships; managing fieldwork projects including commercial and health and safety requirements; performing road and airfield pavement inspections and reporting treatment recommendations; leading pavement analysis, design, specification and reporting; developing lifecycle plans to support asset management, operations and maintenance for road operators; providing commercial guidance during proposal development and project delivery; and implementing technical quality requirements to meet project briefs and client deadlines.

Requirements

Experience
Proven knowledge of pavement engineering demonstrated by experience in pavement design, investigation and research. Experience with road and airfield pavement engineering projects. Familiarity with pavement design methodologies and contract documentation, including MCHW/DMRB. Experience in pavement investigation projects for maintenance design and failure investigation. Understanding of materials behaviour underlying standard specifications. Knowledge of roads operation, maintenance and renewal practices. Experience preparing proposals and communicating with clients. Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams.

Qualifications
Experience working within the Pavement Engineering discipline or holding an MEng / BEng in Civil Engineering or a related field.
