About the Role
Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy, with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden, we deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to meet the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

The Community Food Team delivers projects that bring people together, tackle climate change and social injustice, and strengthen the local community. The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen is a welcoming place for people to cook, eat and learn. It hosts training, volunteering and work-experience opportunities, community cooking classes, events, courses and workshops about food and drink. The programme includes budget-friendly cooking projects, climate-friendly food workshops, employability programmes, children and family sessions and income-generating social-enterprise classes. We are an approved REHIS Training Centre and maintain a small kitchen garden supplying fresh ingredients. We also deliver events and workshops with community groups across Fife.

As Community Food Team Manager, you will lead the development, planning and management of our busy community kitchen and its varied programme of events and activities, in line with our values, funding commitments and social enterprise aspirations. You will develop new and enterprising ideas to grow our vision of a place for people to come together to grow, cook, eat and learn, working with the Senior Leadership Team to secure resources for new projects.

You will line manage and support a small team and ensure Community Food Volunteers are well supported, supervised and celebrated. A key part of the role is ensuring high standards of compliance with Environmental Health and Health and Safety Regulations and overseeing the day-to-day management of the Lang Spoon Community Kitchens.

The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the local social, political and cultural food landscape to build effective partnerships and help maintain Greener Kirkcaldy’s reputation with funders, partners and decision-makers as informed, trustworthy and effective. Training and strong team support will be provided.

Working at Greener Kirkcaldy means being part of a positive, collaborative and social team with a culture that values equality, diversity, openness, staff wellbeing and development. We encourage staff initiative and ideas and offer flexible and hybrid working, enhanced maternity, paternity and sick pay, excellent wellbeing, training and development opportunities, generous annual leave with flexible timing, and social events.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those from Minority Ethnic backgrounds and disabled people, to help us achieve our vision of Kirkcaldy as a greener and fairer place to live.
