About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing the nation’s forests for everyone. As a Community Ranger, you will work closely with local communities to ensure that recreational facilities are well maintained and welcoming for all users. Your role will involve running volunteer sessions, communicating upcoming forestry operations, carrying out trail and facility checks, and responding to enquiries via email, face-to-face, or phone. You will be the visible and approachable local face of Forestry England, helping to create amazing places and experiences while supporting sustainable forestry and wildlife habitats. This fixed-term appointment runs until 31 March with the possibility of extension.

Requirements

Experience
Relevant experience working with communities or in outdoor recreational settings is desirable but not mandatory. A passion for forestry and community engagement is essential.

You are enthusiastic, approachable, and motivated to make a positive difference. You have strong communication skills and enjoy working with diverse groups of people. You are adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks including volunteer coordination, facility inspections, and responding to enquiries.

Qualifications
There are no specific qualification requirements for this role. However, candidates must have the ability to communicate effectively in accurate spoken English. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal record check and government baseline personnel security standard check.
