About the Role
The Woodland Trust is seeking a Conservation Outcomes Manager to lead a team focused on embedding conservation outcomes across all areas of our work. You will provide expert guidance, training, and tools while building strong partnerships to deliver nature recovery, climate, and people-focused outcomes. Key responsibilities include leading organisational expertise in evidence-based practical conservation, embedding conservation principles and a culture of evidence-led conservation including the use of Conservation Standards, and developing and maintaining practical conservation guidance. You will build capability through staff training, networks, and sharing good practice, ensuring delivery activities such as acquisitions and treescapes have clear conservation outcome objectives focused on nature recovery. This role involves leading and line-managing the Conservation Outcomes team, setting priorities, and supporting effective delivery. You will also build and maintain external conservation networks to extend the Woodland Trust’s influence, represent the organisation in national conservation partnerships, and support collaborative delivery across countries and regions. Close collaboration with Heads of Estate, Landscape Delivery, Outreach, and Landowners to support regional teams is essential. You will manage relevant budgets effectively to ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements

Experience
- Strong leadership skills with experience in line management of a small team, supporting performance and professional development
- Proven ability to develop and embed evidence-based technical guidance
- Effective networker with experience building partnerships across diverse stakeholders
- Strong understanding and experience of UK conservation issues with a commitment to nature-rich woods, trees, and wildlife
- Excellent facilitation skills and strategic thinking with a creative approach to solving conservation challenges

About you

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex science for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to travel across the UK for meetings, site visits, and events, including overnight stays

Qualifications
- Degree-level education in forestry, ecology, land management, or a related field
- Chartered status (or working towards) or equivalent continuous professional development
