About the Role
We are seeking a talented Consultant Arboriculturist to join our well-established environmental business at Tetra Tech, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop an arboricultural team that will work closely alongside our multi-award winning ecology and natural capital teams. You will have the ambition to develop your technical skills and career in line with a defined career pathway within a leading global environmental consultancy.
As part of a multidisciplinary consultancy, you will collaborate with colleagues across Planning, Placemaking, Engineering, Transportation, and Asset Management teams. You will proactively develop relationships within the business, supporting colleagues through all project stages. Our projects span diverse sectors including Residential, Defence, Energy, Government Services, and Transport.
The role involves a mix of site work and office-based tasks, requiring flexibility to work from home, office, or alternative working spaces. We pride ourselves on offering a fully flexible, hybrid working environment focused on talent and skills rather than location.
Main duties include:
- Conducting BS 5837 arboricultural surveys, veteran and ancient tree assessments, visual tree assessments, safety and risk surveys, and providing management advice for a wide range of projects locally and nationally.
- Preparing various reports such as tree survey schedules, Tree Constraints and Opportunities Plans, Management Plans, Impact Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Liaising with local authorities regarding legal protections like Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and Conservation Areas.
- Supervising site works and providing arboricultural advice to clients.
- Attending client meetings and preparing fee proposals and competitive tenders.
- Undertaking quality assurance of reports and plans.
- Supporting the Natural Capital team with arboricultural expertise.
Tetra Tech is committed to providing a supportive work environment with fantastic flexible benefits, personal and professional development opportunities, and the chance to work on exciting, ground-breaking projects. We want this role to be a significant step in your career that you will be proud of.
Experience
- Proven experience conducting BS 5837 surveys and reporting, including use of surveying equipment and digital tools.
- Strong arboricultural identification skills, including knowledge of pests, diseases, and fungi affecting tree risk and lifespan.
- Experience in line management, recruiting, training, and developing staff.
- Experience in quality assurance and producing high-quality outputs.
- Confident in liaising with clients and stakeholders.
About you
- Ambitious and driven to grow and develop an arboricultural team.
- Proactive in building relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexible and adaptable to hybrid working arrangements.
- Committed to delivering high-quality professional advice.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture (Qualifications and Credit Framework).
- Full UK driving licence.
