About the Role
We’re looking for a Sustainability Consultant with around 3–5 years' experience, or a Senior Sustainability Consultant with 5+ years' experience, to deliver projects that achieve positive sustainability outcomes while meeting client needs and fee targets. You will work on projects connecting the built environment with nature, biodiversity, and natural capital, not just meeting minimum requirements but developing nature positive solutions at a wide variety of scales. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with our nature and ecology teams, providing a joined-up approach that differentiates our work and broadens our ability to positively influence the built environment.

Depending on your experience, you will be responsible for delivering and managing smaller projects or specific elements of larger engineering and sustainability projects. You will monitor progress against agreed project aims, report regularly to line managers, and help ensure projects are delivered effectively. Our primary purpose is to embed sustainability throughout development design and actively enhance environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Undertake whole life carbon modelling and options appraisals to interpret outcomes through design optioneering.
- Develop and apply circular economy strategy and principles across a range of projects.
- Produce reports including whole life carbon assessments, circular economy statements, sustainability statements, and other related planning submissions.
- Manage BREEAM assessments including pre-assessments, workshops, and the certification process, working directly with clients.
- Manage small to medium projects from start to finish, or smaller parts of larger projects.

Requirements

Experience
3–5 years' experience (Consultant) or 5+ years' experience (Senior Consultant) in a role with similar responsibilities involving building sustainability design, carbon assessment, net zero transition, and sustainability advisory.

About you
- Strong understanding of whole life carbon assessment and ability to interpret outcomes to inform design optioneering (desirable at Consultant level, expected at Senior).
- Knowledge and application of circular economy principles across diverse project types.
- Experience managing BREEAM assessments including pre-assessments, workshops, and certification.
- Working knowledge of the planning process and associated reporting/documentation requirements.
- Broader understanding of NABERS, UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, and Passivhaus.
- Certified or accredited professional in relevant sustainability rating systems (e.g. BREEAM, WELL) is advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification in architecture, consulting, engineering, or a related field.
BREEAM Assessor/AP status desirable but not essential.
Whole life carbon qualification desirable but not essential.

Benefits
- Competitive salary package with potential for a discretionary bonus.
- 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Enhanced pension contributions.
- Training and development programs to support career growth.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Hybrid working including an option to work from abroad for a set period each year.
- Enhanced family policies.
- Two volunteer days per year to give back to the community.
- Opportunities to shape industry best practice through professional body working groups and initiatives such as NextGen.
- Online benefits including shopping and leisure discounts, health and wellbeing services, 24hr GP appointments, gym membership, and more.
- Regular social events.
