About the Role
The Director, Sustainable Infrastructure Portfolio and Implementation (SI PI) leads a multidisciplinary team of bankers, engineers, project managers, and technical cooperation grant managers to enhance the Bank’s impact in the sustainable infrastructure sector. The role encompasses three core functions: managing the Bank’s portfolio of debt investments with oversight of day-to-day portfolio management activities as the first line of defence; sourcing, managing, and reporting on donor funds in close collaboration with the Donor Partnerships team; and providing technical and engineering advice to support the design and implementation of Bank activities. The SI PI team’s remit covers power, energy, transport, social infrastructure, and municipal sectors.

Key responsibilities include delivering on the team’s annual objectives aligned with the Business Group and Bank plans, providing strategic direction across portfolio management, project preparation and implementation, and technical cooperation grants. The Director ensures high-quality technical input into investments and policy dialogue, including feasibility studies, reform support, technical due diligence, procurement, and project monitoring. Close coordination with other teams such as Policy Strategy and Delivery, Climate Strategy and Delivery, and Donor Partnerships is essential.

The role also involves managing the performing loan portfolio to protect the Bank’s reputation, credit quality, and impact, overseeing restructuring cases, and supporting sectoral issues and data management. The Director is responsible for the team’s budget, resource utilization, recruitment, performance management, coaching, and development, while championing the Bank’s behavioural competencies and ethical standards. As part of the SIG senior leadership group, the Director collaborates closely with senior management to achieve collective objectives.

Working at EBRD offers a dynamic and inclusive environment where innovation, trust, responsibility, and inclusiveness are core values. The Bank fosters a hybrid workplace with flexibility, prioritizes employee wellbeing, and embraces diversity as a fundamental principle. Employees engage in stimulating work that impacts diverse regions and sectors, supported by a culture that values collaboration, integrity, and continuous development.
