About the Role
The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project. As an Environmental Advisor at Balfour Beatty HPC, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting sustainability, and managing environmental risks across site operations. You will support the Construction Design and Management / Environment & Sustainability (CDM/E&S) Manager in coordinating and controlling activities related to environmental aspects, with particular attention to interfaces between contractors and operational areas of the project.

Your key accountabilities will include supporting regulatory compliance, implementing the Environmental & Sustainability (E&S) Plan, managing subcontractor environmental aspects, assisting with incident investigations, driving continuous improvement, and providing advisory and analytical support. You will conduct environmental assessments, promote best practices in environmental protection, support audits and inspections, contribute to reporting, coordinate with stakeholders, and deliver training and awareness sessions.

This role requires a proactive approach to environmental risk management and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams to ensure environmental responsibilities are met effectively throughout the project lifecycle. Security vetting is required, with a residency requirement of at least 3 of the last 5 years in the UK.

Requirements

Experience
Experience as an environmental advisor, ideally within the construction sector. PQTP demonstrating 1-2 years' experience in environmental management. Awareness of ISO 14001 environmental management systems is desirable but not essential. Construction industry experience is required.

About you
Committed to environmental compliance and sustainability, with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Able to work flexibly including occasional weekends and evenings. Must have the right to work in the UK and meet security vetting criteria.

Qualifications
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in an environmental discipline or similar. Driving licence required. Professional membership such as IEMA associate member or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
