About the Role
Join Weetabix as an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Apprentice and become a vital part of our mission to achieve Zero Accidents and Zero Environmental Harm (Goal Zero). You will support daily EHS activities, ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and contribute to exciting improvement projects. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team while completing a Level 3 Safety Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship with the University of Lincoln.
Key responsibilities include assisting with safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations; supporting risk assessments and safe work systems; recording and analysing safety data; and promoting environmental initiatives such as waste reduction, recycling, and energy efficiency. You will also help maintain EHS records using company management systems and assist with the implementation and review of EHS management systems aligned with Weetabix standards.
In addition, you will contribute to safety communications and awareness campaigns, participate in EHS meetings and site improvement efforts, and engage in learning activities including mentoring, coaching, and job shadowing. This apprenticeship will enable you to take ownership of your personal learning and development within a manufacturing environment.
Experience
No prior experience required, but previous work in manufacturing, engineering, or food production is desirable. Awareness of EHS legislation or management systems (e.g., ISO 45001 / ISO 14001) is advantageous.
About you
You should have a demonstrated interest in environment, health and safety, or sustainability. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, good organisational abilities with attention to detail, and competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential. A willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing environment is crucial.
Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above in English, Mathematics, and Science are required. A Levels or a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject such as Science, Engineering, or Environmental Studies are desirable.
