£36,555 - £54,804 per annum (dependent on experience) plus essential user car allowance and a Recruitment Allowance of £5,480
About the Role
We are seeking two experienced officers to join our friendly and supportive Environmental Health department within the busy Residential team. Your duties will include noise and other nuisance investigations; public health related work; all aspects of private sector housing including licensing of houses in multiple occupation; investigations related to the new Renters’ Rights Act; and handling social housing complaints.
An interest in acoustics and experience investigating complex noise complaints will be advantageous, as will the ability to critique technical noise reports and provide acoustic advice for large development projects.
You will be enthusiastic, committed, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude. Excellent communication skills, teamwork, sound time management, and confidence in dealing with the public are essential. You must be adaptable to changing priorities and able to work to tight deadlines.
This is a hybrid role supporting both office and home working in line with council policy. Attendance at the office will be required according to a rota and service needs.
The role requires a command of spoken English sufficient for effective performance, in line with the Code of Practice on English language requirements for public sector workers.
A Basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check will be required as part of employment checks.
An essential car user allowance is attached to this post, so a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use are required.
Successful candidates will be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app on their own mobile device to securely access the council network.

Experience
Proven experience as an Environmental Health Officer or Environmental Health Regulatory Officer, ideally with experience in noise investigations and private sector housing enforcement.
