About the Role
Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award-winning projects. Working for MMB, you will be involved in major water and wastewater schemes throughout all project phases from feasibility through to construction. With an annual turnover surpassing £500 million, MMB is a leader in the industry, providing an ideal environment for career growth.

Primarily operating in the UK water market, MMB delivers feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services to maintain efficient water supply and wastewater treatment. Projects range from restoring reservoirs to installing cutting-edge technology for clean drinking water and sewerage treatment, making a real difference to the environment and communities.

As an Environmental Specialist, you will be part of a UK-wide environment team supporting regional design and operations staff to deliver environmental improvements locally and regionally. Your key responsibilities will include identifying environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle, supporting project teams to develop risk mitigation measures considering cost, time, compliance, safety, and social impacts, and coordinating specialist environmental inputs such as heritage, archaeology, ecology, and geomorphology.

You will produce environmental deliverables at project milestones including EIA screening assessments and environmental management plans, lead liaison with environmental regulators, and engage positively with clients on environmental and consenting matters to enhance MMB’s reputation.

You will demonstrate a broad understanding of environmental disciplines and project risks including ecology, archaeology, drainage, geotechnics, contaminated land, landscape, and noise, with deeper expertise in at least one area being advantageous. Effective planning, organisation, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential to deliver successful project outcomes within tight timeframes.
