The NNB Surveillance Field Engineer will take responsibility for activities in the field relating to Construction Surveillance. You will form part of a team delivering NEC Supervisor duties as described in the NEC contract, ensuring that HPC Quality needs, targets and expectations are realised.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Checking that works are constructed in accordance with the contract and notifying the construction superintendent of any non-conformance request requirements
- Submitting details of non-conformance requests to assist in issuing non-conformance reports
- Proactively communicating with other site teams, maintaining good communication links and ensuring timely surveillance reporting
- Contributing surveillance information to support KPI indicators
- Identifying potential quality issues early to enable mitigating actions
- Supporting team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate risks and keep works safe and within quality standards
- Following up with appropriate and proportionate actions (e.g. issuing communications, calling meetings) to prevent work stoppages
- Ensuring design decisions are not taken “in the field” by EDF Energy or contractors but are considered and approved via a formal process
- Enhancing the team’s perspective of current and future site activities
- Ensuring tasks are developed to quality standards in accordance with company health, safety and environmental requirements
- Developing and maintaining an understanding of construction drawings, activities, Quality Control Plans and Quality Inspection Records
- Ensuring and monitoring that Quality Inspection Records are taken and agreed before works are covered up
- Reviewing contractor performance against the authorised quality control plan
Experience
- Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the building industry, materials, trades methods and legal requirements
- Proven experience of writing accurate, concise diaries relevant to contract forms
- Proven track record working within large construction teams
- Experience in installation and erection of large civil works and mechanical or electrical plant
- General understanding of CDM Regulations and document/drawing approval processes
- Experience using electronic handheld devices to capture information

Qualifications
- Minimum HND in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience
