About the Role
Scottish Woodlands Ltd is a leading forestry management company with a long tradition of serving forest owners and investors across Scotland and the UK. We provide a comprehensive range of forest, estate and land-related services underpinned by market experience, knowledge and a commitment to quality. As an employee-owned business, we foster dedication and professionalism to deliver flexible and personal services tailored to each client’s objectives.
The UK government’s commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 has increased interest in both existing forestry and new woodland creation. Due to growing work programmes, we are seeking enthusiastic professionals for multiple key positions within our organisation. These roles offer an excellent balance of practical outdoor work and office-based duties including surveying and strategic planning of woodlands, forestry works management, site monitoring and supervision of contractors, compliance with health and safety regulations, preparation of forest plans and grant applications, woodland creation project development, timber harvesting operations, GIS mapping, budget management, and client reporting.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive team, contribute to shaping the future of forestry in the UK, and develop your career in a thriving industry. Scottish Woodlands offers an attractive salary and benefits package including pension scheme, life assurance, private healthcare, company vehicle, and equity participation through a subsidised share purchase scheme. You will be part of a highly professional and motivated team with excellent personal and career development opportunities.
Experience
Forestry experience and qualifications are advantageous but not essential. Experience working with contractors, project management, and health & safety is highly desirable.
About you
We are looking for individuals with professional acumen who are commercially aware and have a sound understanding of the rural sector. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to identify, analyse and solve problems. Candidates with backgrounds in environmental science, geography, agriculture or rural surveying who wish to enter the forestry sector are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
A full, valid driving licence is essential. Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or progress towards chartered status, or a similar professional qualification, is preferred but not required. Relevant academic qualifications are desirable but not mandatory, as new recruits will be supported to achieve appropriate qualifications.
