Location
Banbury, with the ability to be based at any Thames Water site across the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and London area.

Hours
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a standby rota with additional payment. Opportunities for overtime at time and a half or double rates.

Salary
£44,000 to £65,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earnings by an additional £13,000 to £15,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
Join Thames Water's waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines across various sites. You will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, working closely with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient operations with minimal downtime and within budget. Your duties include completing accurate service records and reports, identifying parts and consumables needed, and demonstrating a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well-being. You will also provide excellent customer service and support team members by sharing skills gained from product training. The role requires travelling within the Thames Water area and operating engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo to optimise asset performance.

Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to carry out thorough diagnostics on engines, generators, and associated systems.
- Experience with Natural/Bio/AD Gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable but not essential.
- Competent to work independently or as part of a team to a high standard.

Qualifications
- Ideally NVQ/C&G or an engine manufacturer's qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Electrical qualification is an advantage but not essential.

- Ability to operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo.
