About the Role
At Curtins, we're an employee-owned engineering consultancy driven by a simple ambition: to create a better built environment for everyone. For over 65 years, we've delivered practical, innovative and sustainable solutions that positively impact communities across the UK and Ireland. Our Geo-Environmental team plays a key role by helping clients understand ground conditions, manage land contamination risks and unlock the development potential of sites safely and sustainably. As a Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer, you'll join a supportive team of specialists passionate about understanding the ground beneath our projects. You will gain hands-on experience in contaminated land assessment, ground investigations, remediation strategies, environmental risk management and foundation-related geotechnical challenges. Working alongside experienced engineers and consultants, you'll develop the technical skills and practical knowledge needed to help deliver safe, sustainable and commercially successful developments.

What you'll be doing
You will help clients understand ground conditions and environmental constraints, providing advice that supports safe and sustainable development. Your responsibilities will include assisting with contaminated land and environmental site assessments, supporting Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments and Phase 2 Ground Investigations, interpreting environmental monitoring and laboratory testing data, assisting with environmental risk assessments for human health, controlled waters and ground gases, supporting the development of remediation strategies and verification reports, preparing factual and interpretative geo-environmental reports, and undertaking site visits, environmental monitoring and fieldwork activities.

Projects you will work on
Projects may include brownfield regeneration and redevelopment schemes, former industrial and commercial sites requiring contamination assessment and remediation, residential and mixed-use developments on previously developed land, environmental due diligence and site feasibility assessments, ground investigation and environmental monitoring programmes, remediation, earthworks and materials management projects, land quality support for major infrastructure and strategic development projects, assessment of ground-related risks including contamination, ground gases and controlled waters, sustainable redevelopment projects that bring underutilised land back into beneficial use, and multi-disciplinary projects collaborating with civil, structural and transport engineers to deliver integrated solutions.

How Curtins will support your development
Through the Curtins Graduate Academy, you will follow a structured development programme designed to accelerate both your technical and professional growth. You will benefit from a structured graduate development programme, dedicated mentoring and coaching, regular technical and professional skills training, support towards professional registration and Chartership, exposure to a wide range of projects, clients and sectors, and opportunities to build your network across the business. You will be supported by experienced professionals genuinely invested in your success and development.

Why join Curtins?
As an employee-owned business, every person at Curtins contributes to and benefits from our success. Alongside exciting projects and a supportive culture, you will enjoy an industry-leading benefits package, award-winning training and development programmes, employee ownership benefits, opportunities to get involved in STEM, charity and community initiatives, and access to unique Employee Extras including 5-star holiday lodges. Most importantly, you will join a business where your ideas matter, your development is supported and your contribution makes a real difference. Build your future with Curtins.

Requirements

Experience
We are looking for graduates who are curious, analytical and passionate about understanding the relationship between the ground, the environment and development. Previous work experience is not essential as full training and support will be provided.

About you
You should share our values of integrity (doing the right thing), being human (supporting and respecting others), curiosity (asking questions and seeking better solutions), and impact (making a meaningful difference through our work). You are motivated to learn, work collaboratively and contribute positively to a supportive team environment.

Qualifications
Ideally, you will be studying towards or have recently completed a degree in one of the following disciplines: Geology, Geo Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geoscience or a related subject. It is advantageous to hold an MSc in a relevant subject such as Geo Environmental Engineering, Contaminated Land Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Geology or Environmental Science. Most importantly, a strong desire to develop professionally and pursue chartership is essential.
