About the Role
Join Stantec's 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Geotechnical or Geoenvironmental Engineer in our Belfast office. You will contribute to ground assessment, geotechnical and geoenvironmental work across a variety of infrastructure, water, and community-focused projects. Working within a friendly and collaborative ground assessment team, you will apply your skills to real-world challenges and help deliver high-quality outputs for clients. The team provides expertise from early design stages through to construction, supporting projects including water company initiatives, infrastructure development, site characterisation, and environmental risk assessment.
Your responsibilities will include supporting ground investigations, site characterisation, and preparing ground investigation specifications and reports. You will assess geotechnical laboratory data, prepare ground models, and support fundamental geotechnical design calculations. You will contribute to geotechnical inputs such as foundations, retaining walls, soil and rock slope stability, and earthworks. Additionally, you will review historical maps and environmental information to identify potential contamination sources, evaluate soils and groundwater data, support environmental risk assessments, and consider sustainable soil reuse or remediation options.
Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will collaborate with technical specialists across Stantec and develop your technical capability through varied project work. Stantec is committed to supporting your professional qualifications and accreditation, with progression opportunities through bodies such as ICE, GSL, and/or IES depending on your pathway and focus.
This role will enable you to deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting the safe, sustainable, and informed development of infrastructure and water-sector projects. Your work will help clients understand ground conditions, manage geotechnical and environmental risks, support sustainable material reuse, and develop practical solutions for complex sites.
Experience
We value your potential over past experience. No specific prior work experience is required, but a keen interest in geotechnical or geoenvironmental engineering within the water sector is essential.
