About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Borough's Green Team in a culturally diverse and dynamic area of London. As a Green Team Operative, you will take a lead role in the horticultural maintenance of parks and open spaces throughout Tower Hamlets. Your responsibilities will include grass cutting, flower bed maintenance, and bowling green upkeep. The Council is committed to enhancing the quality of its green spaces, and you will play a key role in supporting this aim by maintaining high horticultural standards and contributing to local and national award schemes.
The role also involves basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery, ensuring they are safe and operational. You will engage courteously with the public, respond to enquiries about the parks, and report any complaints to the Operations Leader. Additionally, you will participate in community horticultural and ecological events such as tree planting, bulb planting, and clean-up days. Experience
- Knowledge of parks and open spaces issues
- Experience working in frontline grounds maintenance services
- Experience maintaining green spaces to a high standard
- Experience working both independently and as part of a team
- Experience using appropriate grounds maintenance tools and machinery
About you
- Able to operate and carry out routine maintenance of horticultural machinery, tools, and equipment
- Knowledge of Health & Safety related to parks and open spaces, including safe pesticide use
- Knowledge of First Aid to protect public safety and park infrastructure
- Commitment to delivering excellent public service and promoting equality and diversity
Qualifications
- Full driving licence is essential
