About the Role
The London Borough of Merton is recruiting for a new post of Head of Contracts & Procurement to lead the department of Culture, Leisure, Libraries and Greenspaces. The post holder will be responsible for all major procurement and contract management functions within the department, including the successful implementation of the new greenspaces grounds maintenance contract scheduled to go live in November 2026. This role requires collaborative working with officers across the department to ensure full compliance with contract and procurement regulations. The post holder will drive a new performance culture focused on accountability and responsibility, utilising the latest data and technology to monitor and improve the performance of key contracts continuously. As the second greenest borough and with ambitions to become London's first Borough of Sport, the services managed by this role are central to the council’s strategic goals and aspirations.

Experience
Proven successful background in the management and operational delivery of contracted services within a local authority or other large, complex organisation.
