This role can be based at our National Office in Bristol (BS16 1EJ) or, by negotiation, at another of our major office locations.

Hours
Full Time - 37 hours per week

Salary
£60,293 to £66,375 per annum

As Head of Forestry and Timber, you will lead Forestry England’s timber trading and forest management activities, maximising the value of forestry assets. Working closely with the Director of Operations - Forestry and Land Management, you will set the strategic direction to ensure a resilient, productive, and financially sustainable forestry estate that delivers high quality environmental outcomes and increases natural capital value.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in forestry management, timber trading, or a related field with a strong track record of delivering strategic outcomes and managing complex forestry operations.

You are a strategic leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to see the big picture. You are adaptable, focused on continuous improvement, and capable of leading and motivating teams to deliver value for money. You demonstrate strong capability building and have a commitment to environmental sustainability and natural capital enhancement.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in forestry, land management, or a related discipline are desirable. Membership of a professional body is advantageous. You must have the ability to provide conversation in accurate spoken English as required by the Immigration Act 2016.
