About the Role
As the Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Business Partner at Riverside, you will champion Health, Safety, and Environment across the Group, ensuring HSE risks are effectively managed to protect our People, Customers, and Homes. This critical role supports the Group's ambition to create safe, sustainable environments for colleagues and customers, safeguarding the places our customers live and promoting responsible, sustainable practices.
You will provide strategic oversight in HSE governance, audit, and assurance, embedding robust frameworks to safeguard compliance, drive continuous improvement, and uphold the highest standards across the Group. Acting as the HSE support to colleagues at all levels, you will ensure safe operations and promote personal responsibility.
Key responsibilities include supporting Accountable Risk Leads (ARLs) in delivering their risk frameworks, conducting assurance and audit reviews, monitoring incident reporting systems, leading major incident investigations, and producing strategic safety improvement plans. You will also support embedding environmental, sustainability, and health & safety requirements aligned with ISO standards.
This role reports directly to the HSE Lead and works across designated risk areas to develop and implement HSE strategies, policies, procedures, KPIs, and actions. You will collaborate closely with other HSE team members, MI and Data, Insurance, and Business Continuity teams, as well as senior leaders and stakeholders to drive a Safety-First culture throughout the Group.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience in HSE governance, audit, and assurance within a large, dispersed organisation
- Lead Auditing Qualification with substantial experience conducting HSE audits and assurance reviews
- Major Incident Investigation experience
- Proven ability to analyse and report on HSE performance to governance bodies, driving accountability and continuous improvement
- Experience conducting high-quality investigations and implementing control measures
- Proven experience influencing senior leaders to take ownership of risks
- Experience conducting risk assessments and maintaining risk registers with knowledge of risk management processes
- Effective report writing and presentation skills

Qualifications
- Level 5/6 HSE qualification desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation desirable
- Understanding of relevant legislation and government regulations pertaining to HSE in Housing
- Experience supporting or leading external assurance processes including ISO accreditation audits desirable
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Understanding of governance frameworks and assurance requirements within the social housing sector desirable
- Knowledge of social housing context and challenges (particularly The Riverside Group) is advantageous
