About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Historic Environment Consultant to join our growing multidisciplinary Climate and Sustainability Services (CSS) team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across the UK, helping to shape the future of historic environment consultancy. You will prepare Historic Environment Desk Based Assessments, undertake site and archive visits, and contribute to Environmental Statement (ES) chapters. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across various disciplines to meet project objectives.
In addition to pre-planning assessments, you will be involved in the design and management of archaeological fieldwork, including Archaeological Clerk of Work responsibilities. You will manage fieldwork projects from planning and consent applications through to delivery of bespoke archaeological strategies for large infrastructure projects under senior supervision.
As a core member of the London-based team, you will work closely with colleagues in the Midlands and report to a designated line manager. This role offers the chance to provide high-quality consultancy advice that supports clients in achieving their objectives across all aspects of the historic environment.

Experience
- Strong foundation in UK archaeology and heritage consultancy
- Experience preparing Historic Environment Desk Based Assessments, Heritage Statements, Written Schemes of Investigation, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters including setting assessments
- Experience in archaeological fieldwork project management and design
- Confident user of GIS software (ArcGIS Pro preferred) and dataset manipulation
- Sound knowledge of the UK legislative framework and its practical application to historic environment projects

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in Archaeology or a related subject
- Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (PCIfA minimum, ACIfA preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
