About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Historic Environment Consultant to join our growing multidisciplinary Climate and Sustainability Services (CSS) team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across the UK, helping to shape the future of historic environment consultancy. Your responsibilities will include preparing Historic Environment Desk Based Assessments, undertaking site and archive visits, and contributing to Environmental Statement (ES) chapters. You will collaborate with colleagues across various disciplines to achieve project objectives.
The role also involves the design and management of archaeological fieldwork, including Archaeological Clerk of Work experience, managing fieldwork projects from planning and consent applications through to delivery of bespoke archaeological strategies for large infrastructure projects under senior supervision. You will support clients by providing high-quality consultancy advice across all aspects of the historic environment.
As a core member of the London-based team, you will work closely with colleagues in the Midlands and report to a designated line manager. This role offers the chance to be part of an extraordinary collective that values individuality, diversity, and making a positive impact through meaningful work.
Experience
- Strong foundation in UK archaeology and heritage consultancy within the UK planning system
- Experience preparing Historic Environment Desk Based Assessments, Heritage Statements, Written Schemes of Investigation, and Environmental Impact Assessment chapters including setting assessments
- Experience in archaeological fieldwork project management and design
- Confident user of GIS software, preferably ArcGIS Pro, and dataset manipulation
- Sound knowledge of UK legislative framework and policy relating to the historic environment

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in Archaeology or a related subject
- Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (PCIfA minimum, ACIfA preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
