About the Role
As the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager for the Ashton and Bolton sites, you will provide expert guidance, leadership, and a robust approach to all aspects of HSE. Your role is critical in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture across the organisation. You will lead a team including one direct HSE Advisor, safeguarding employee health and safety and driving the achievement of HSE targets aligned with internal and external customer expectations. You will promote a positive health and safety culture, provide expert advice and support across both sites, and be an active member of the site leadership team reporting directly to the site lead.
Your responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive HSE policies and procedures, conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations with corrective and preventive actions. You will deploy the global HSE strategy, coordinate site teams to meet Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment objectives, and lead efforts to reduce environmental impact focusing on waste management, CO2 emissions, and optimising water and energy consumption. Additionally, you will own internal group reporting procedures, liaise with site leads and HSE partners, and lead internal and external quality audits ensuring adherence to ISO 14001 standards.
Experience
- 10+ years proven experience in a senior HSE role, preferably within a multi-site operation
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, preferably in manufacturing
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams
- Experience in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of ISO standards: ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Proficiency in risk assessment and incident investigation

Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., IOSH, IEMA)
